Privacy Policy
Your case is sensitive by nature — that's why it's yours, and treated that way.
1. What we collect
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account info | Email, and whatever you tell your Second during onboarding (legal name, address, phone — only what a filing actually requires) |
| Case content | Documents you upload, facts and dates you provide, chat messages with your Second, drafts and signatures |
| Billing info | Handled directly by Stripe, our payment processor — CourtBoss does not store your card number |
| Usage data | Basic technical logs (timestamps, error logs) needed to keep the service running |
We deliberately don't ask for sensitive identifiers like your Social Security Number at signup. Where a specific form genuinely requires one, your Second asks for it at that point of need, during your review, not before.
2. How we use it
- To run your case: build your Case Brain record, draft documents from your own facts, calculate and track deadlines.
- To bill correctly: case-open starts billing, case-close stops it — nothing else.
- To operate and secure the service: fraud prevention, debugging, keeping your account and case data isolated from every other customer's.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the vendors that make the product work, and only what each one needs:
- Anthropic (Claude) — processes your messages and documents to generate your Second's responses and drafts.
- Stripe — processes payment for opening a case; handles your card details directly, we never see or store them.
- Supabase — hosts your account and case database.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your case content with any third party for marketing purposes. We never contact a court, agency, or opposing party on your behalf, and we never share your case content with one except when you direct your Second to prepare something for you to send yourself.
4. How long we keep it
Your case record — including closed cases — is kept for as long as your account exists, at no additional charge, because a case you fought is worth keeping. You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time by contacting us; we'll retain only what we're legally required to (for example, payment records required for tax purposes).
5. Your rights
You can access, export, or request deletion of your data at any time. Your full case record — documents, sourced facts, deadlines, drafts, and the activity log — is exportable from your account whenever you want it.
6. Security
Case data is stored with access controls that isolate each customer's records from every other customer's, and from CourtBoss staff except as needed to operate or support the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee against every possible breach, but we treat case data with the sensitivity a legal matter deserves.
7. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and let account holders know.
